Luciano Rigobelo is a Brazilian guitarist, composer, and music educator based in Vancouver, Canada. With a career rooted in performance, improvisation, and music education, he brings over two decades of experience to the jazz tradition and Brazilian music. His work reflects a deep commitment to musical language, personal expression, and continuous artistic development.
CAREER BACKGROUND
Luciano began his professional career in Brazil, where he worked extensively as a side musician with rock, blues, and Brazilian music bands, and later as a frontman in several projects. After graduating from Conservatório Musical Souza Lima, one of Brazil’s most respected music conservatories, he established himself as both a performer and educator. From 2012 to 2018, Luciano worked as a music instructor in music schools in Brazil, teaching guitar and developing a strong foundation in music education. In 2019, he relocated to Vancouver, Canada, where he expanded his performance and teaching career and became active in the local jazz scene. He has performed alongside musicians such as Dan Reynolds, a pianist and educator associated with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, the violinist Isaac Zee, and the trumpet player Simon Millerd. Currently, Luciano also performs as a solo guitarist, presenting jazz repertoire and original material using backing tracks recorded and produced in his own home studio, blending live performance with personal production work.

Luciano Rigobelo’s music is deeply influenced by jazz and improvisation, bossa nova, and blues. His repertoire includes works by influential jazz composers and innovators such as Herbie Hancock, Pat Metheny, Tom Jobim, Toninho Horta, and Chet Baker, alongside his own original jazz compositions. Since 2011, Luciano has been dedicated to studying jazz as a musical language, focusing on improvisation, harmony, and expressive freedom. Jazz remains the core of his artistic identity, shaping both his performance style and his approach to music education. His formal training at Conservatório Musical Souza Lima and continued studies with Vancouver Symphony Orchestra Jazz Combos have further refined his sound, resulting in a style that balances structure, exploration, and personal voice.
