Rúne is a self-produced R&B and Neo Soul vocalist, composer and songwriter. She melds hip hop beats with jazz musicianship, gospel-inspired harmonies, electronic elements and catchy vocal melodies. Her music and lyrics are soulful, raw, insightful, emotive, and poetically reflective, and her sound draws comparisons to Cleo Sol, Charlotte Day Wilson, Amy Winehouse, Jorja Smith, Erykah Badu, H.E.R, Hiatus Kaiyote and Moonchild. She seeks to uplift and inspire others to reconnect to something both within themselves and greater than themselves; a journey that feels both grounding and transcendent, with colorful, sonically rich textures from sampled flutes and harps, to jazzy, live keyboard licks.
JUSTINE’S CAREER BACKGROUND
rúne was trained in Classical, Opera, Gospel and Jazz voice, as well as Jazz and classical piano and theory through the Royal Conservatory of Music, UBC Music and VCC Music. She also has a diploma from Nimbus School of Recording and Media in Music Production. Performance highlights include The Fox Cabaret, The Local Festival sponsored by FACTOR Canada, El Mocambo Toronto , Guilt & Co , YVR Airport, 2nd Floor Gastown, and much more.
