The music of Bobo Violets is every bit the vibrant bouquet of colours and textures his name suggests. With his powerful soul vocal style and authentic approach to composition, Bobo blends neo-soul, hip-hop, jazz, and pop into a dreamlike style that is uniquely his own.
Based in Vancouver, BC, Bobo Violets began performing as a teenager and has grown over 15+ years into a versatile and seasoned entertainer, bandleader, and producer. He also holds a diploma in audio engineering and has experience as a live sound engineer.
CAREER BACKGROUND
Bobo Violets is a hands-on artist and multi-instrumentalist, meaning he writes, records, produces, and edits all his studio-recorded music, along with playing all the instruments. His 2019 EP Matching Socks features vulnerable and poignant storytelling drawn from experiences throughout his young and adult life. His first full-length album, Flyin’ Flamingoz, is a concept album based on self-love and is set to be released in 2026.
Bobo has extensive experience performing as a solo artist on guitar and keyboards, and also as a bandleader and frontman. He has also gone on tour in Western Canada as a hired keyboardist and has performed as a bassist and drummer in several bands. He also studied audio engineering at Douglas College and obtained a diploma in 2020.
BOBO VOILET’S MUSIC STYLE
Bobo Violets’ specialty is Soul and RnB and blends new age with old school influence, drawing inspiration from artists such as Frank Ocean, D’Angelo, Erykah Badu, Al Green, Stevie Wonder, and many others.
His performances can vary from primarily original music to a wide variety of covers featuring artists mentioned above, along with Leon Bridges, Michael Jackson, Talking Heads, and OutKast, to name a few.
